LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Raptor Rehab said the snowy owl passed away on Jan. 5.

They said the cause of death was an aneurysm in her jugular vein. There was nothing they could have done differently to prevent that.

The snowy owl was brought to them after it was spotted near Gene Snyder and Westport Road, which is 2,500 miles away from his arctic home. When it was brought to the rehab center it was underweight.
