LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) --Today, JCPS students returned to class.
There are more than 100,000 students enrolled in the public school system and nearly 75 percent of those students ride the bus.
“We got him dressed and excited for him to go to school,” grandmother Yolanda Turner, who has decided to personally escort her third grade grandson to Engleheart Elementary School, said. “I had to [take the time] to remind him to listen to his teacher.”
According to a JCPS spokesman, everything went fine for the morning commute. In fact, the high school and middle school buses were all on time. Other buses serving the younger children in elementary school had minor hiccups along the way but everything turned out fine.
Parents are encouraged to be patient. Over the next few days the district will intentionally be running behind as to ensure the well-being of all the children.
There were 975 buses on the road.
