(NEWS RELEASE) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 Office advises motorists that the new slip ramp from eastbound Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway) to KY 22 (Old Brownsboro Road) is scheduled to open this afternoon. Contract crews have spent the last few weeks paving and striping the new spur off Exit 22.
KYTC and Louisville Metro Public Works representatives will be at the project this morning to activate the new signal on Brownsboro Road at the end of the ramp. They will check all signal operations to ensure it is working properly before opening the ramp to traffic.
The new slip ramp will provide motorists direct access to KY 22, which will in turn alleviate congestion at the I-264/US 42 interchange.
Construction will continue in this area as crews install two new overhead sign truss on eastbound I-264 between Westport Road and US 42.
The contractor for this $1.83 million project is Gohmann Construction Inc. of Clarksville, Ind.
The duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
