LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two people were sent to the hospital Tuesday evening after a fire broke out at a Louisville apartment building.
Firefighters were called to an apartment building on the 3400 block of Shanks Lane around 11:30 p.m. When they arrived on the scene, officials said crews battle heavy fire and smoke.
Two people trapped in an apartment had to be rescued and were transported to University of Louisville Hospital for smoke inhalation. Both are expected to be OK.
The building housed 8 units and all residents have been evacuated.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
