LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A local fundraiser helped kids in the Louisville community one sandwich at a time.

The McDonald's on Brownsboro Road donated $1 for every Bacon Clubhouse sandwich sold to the Service for Peace Backpack Angel program.

The money will help purchase backpacks and school supplies for low income children.

This year, organizers said they hope to help 2,000 Kentuckiana students.

As part of Thursday's fundraiser, McDonald's customers not only helped raise money for the program, but they also got to spin a prize wheel for a chance to win a variety of giveaways.
