LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—Seneca High School is being honored as a model for other schools in the Commonwealth as a professional learning community.

Those communities are credited with beginning the turnout for many low achieving schools.

Seneca was listed as being a persistently low performing school in 2010 by the Kentucky Department of Education, but has seen vast improvements since that designation.

The school has increased the number of students who are career and college ready and boosted their graduation rate in one year from 60-percent, in 2012, to 84-percent in 2013.
