Senate candidate Matt Bevin spoke at a rally to legalize cockfighting

Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - Republican Senate candidate Matt Bevin took part in a rally in Corbin meant to gain support for legalizing cockfighting in Kentucky.

Bevin's campaign said he didn't know it had any ties to the sport and that he doens't condone cockfighting.

Bevin's campaign also described the event as a "state's rights rally," but the event's organizer to the Corbin News Journal that the sole purpose of the rally was to gain support to legalize cockfighting.

The newspaper reported about 700 people attended.
