FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) – A stretch of I-64 West is closed after a semi-trailer overturns near Shelby County.
The accident happened near Ky. 1932, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Police say the trailer dropped off the westbound shoulder near mile marker 28 just after 2 p.m. causing the vehicle to overturn.
The vehicle’s cargo, plywood, was scattered along the roadway. Police also say the vehicle lost its diesel tank which landed in a nearby creek.
According to the report, police estimate the cleanup will take around 6 to 8 hours. All lanes are currently blocked.
The accident remains under investigation.
