LOUISVILLE, Ky. (News Release) -- The Salvation Army in Louisville has reversed an earlier decision not to hand out the remaining Angel Tree gifts to families due to an all day power outage.

To ensure that all Angel Tree families receive their gifts by Christmas Day, the Salvation Army will open its gymnasium doors from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday regardless of whether or not power has been restored.

Efforts are underway to reach out to the approximately 110 remaining families that missed their assigned pickup date to make them aware of the Saturday hours.

The initial decision to keep the doors closed Friday was to due to a lack of sufficient light to locate Angel Tree bags, and to ensure that staff and volunteers could operate safely.
