LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- For the first time in its 135 year history, Simmons College of Kentucky is expanding its campus.
The school recently bought the national headquarters for The Sons of the American Revolution building on South Fourth Street. Simmons College was able to do so because of a gift from the James Graham Brown Foundation.
The expansion will allow the college to expand its library and administrative offices as well as provide additional learning space for students.
Simmons is also awaiting approval from the Department of Education to become the 107th historically black college and university.
