PRINCETON, Ind. (AP) -- A southern Illinois sheriff says a body found in southern Illinois is likely connected to the disappearance of a southwestern Indiana woman.
White County Sheriff Doug Maier tells WEHT-TV he believes the body found near Crossville, Ill., will be connected to the disappearance of 58-year-old Sandra Burkhardt of rural Gibson County.
Indiana authorities say a relative reported Burkhardt and her car missing from her home late Friday.
Meanwhile, Indiana police who arrested 25-year-old Thomas Davidson on Saturday while investigating burglaries say he directed them to where they could find Burkhardt's crashed car. He was transferred early Sunday from the Posey County Jail in Mount Vernon, Ind., to White County, where a jail officer said he couldn't disclose any charges against Davidson.
It's not clear where Davidson is from.
