LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The rock group, The Black Keys, is suing Yum! Brands and Home Depot. The Black Keys are accusing both companies of using their songs without permission.
Bloomberg reports that the commercials in question are for Pizza Hut's cheesy bites where the song "Gold on the Ceiling" was used.
Home Depot also used the song "Lonely Boy" in a commercial for power tools. The lawsuits were filed Thursday in Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for Home Depot said quote - "We haven't seen the complaint but we take intellectual property very seriously."
Louisville-based Yum! Brands has not responded to the allegations.
The Black Keys says the lawsuits were filed a month after letters were sent to both companies asking them to stop using the songs in their ads.
