Robin Roberts returned home to the Gulf Coast today for the first time since her bone marrow transplant last September.

The “GMA” anchor was greeted upon her arrival by students from her alma mater, Southeastern Louisiana University, where she played basketball. Members of the “Swabbin’ 4 Robin” bone marrow donor program, students in the pep band and the school mascot gave Roberts an all-star welcome.

“Love my alma mater,” Roberts tweeted today. “There’s no place like home.”

Roberts made the trip back to her home state of Louisiana with co-anchors Josh Elliott and Sam Champion, who went down to New Orleans to host “Good Morning America’s Super Tailgate Party” on Friday live from New Orleans.

“Happy to be back home! @SamChampion & @JoshElliottABC are taking great care of me, they sent me to hotel to rest. Bromance time for my boys!” she tweeted today.

Roberts will be with family and friends for a Super Bowl party on Sunday, hosted by her sister Sally-Ann, who was a perfect match and served as her bone marrow donor.

Roberts’ homecoming is the latest in her recovery. Last week she had a behind-the-scenes test run at the “GMA” studio in Times Square, the first in a series of “dry runs” that her doctors have approved in her road to return to the “GMA” anchor chair.
