LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The man suspected of shooting and robbing a University of Louisville employee July 28 has been released from the hospital and is now at Metro Corrections.
Police said 24-year-old Andre Lewis accosted the employee while walking down the street near the Liberty Green Apartment complex. Both the victim and Lewis were armed, both fired shots and both were injured.
Lewis is also the main suspect in three other robberies that took place July 10, 22 and 23 on Marshall Street between Jackson and Hancock streets.
Lewis was wanted on a bench warrant and is already charged with robbery, possession of a handgun by convicted felon, giving officer false name or address, criminal mischief, failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance/security, operating on suspended or revoked operators license, three counts of burglary, two counts of theft by unlawful taking, complicity to theft by unlawful taking and probation violation.
When he was released from the hospital into police custody the following charges were added: three counts of robbery and three counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon.
He is due in arraignment court Friday.
