Ribbon cutting set for new Shelby Co. distillery

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The new Diageo distillery in Shelby County has been officially given the green light.

A ribbon cutting ceremony with Governor Steve Beshear is set for Thursday, August 21.

The distillery will make bulliet bourbon which is currently produced at the Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg.

The $115 million project will create about 30 new jobs in Shelbyville.

Diageo is hoping to have the new distillery up and running by late 2016.
