LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The controversial man who pastored President Barack Obama for 20 years visited Louisville Wednesday.
Dr. Reverend Jeremiah Wright was part of a panel discussion at the 2013 Black Church Studies Consultation. Despite his controversial remarks, the organizers of the event said Wright’s cutting edge ministry is exactly what’s needed right now.
The discussion focused on problems facing African American churches, and how to overcome them. Economic disparities, generation gaps and gun violence were just some of problems cited.
Wright is a Pastor emeritus of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. He spent 36 years as a Senior Pastor and is now retired. He leads study tours to Africa, Brazil and the Caribbean.
