LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Rand Paul said the nation celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and must continue to build an America that children of every race, creed and color deserve.

Paul's critics said, however, that they won't forget that when he first ran for office, Paul expressed reservations about the federal government forcing private companies not to discriminate.

Paul was in Shelbyville to honor the memory of the Rabb family. WHAS11's Joe Arnold has more on Paul's visit in the video player above.
