LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The ramp carrying traffic from I-65 North to I-64 West remains closed Saturday after Kentucky Transportation Cabinet discovered broken concrete in a pier column Friday.

Engineers say they made the determination after seeing more damage than what they’d like to see.

“This is not uncommon for columns like this one,” Mindy Peterson, a Downtown Crossings spokeswoman said.

Once the shoring is installed, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will perform additional testing before the ramp is opened back up to traffic.

Walsh Construction, who’s currently handling the Ohio River Bridges Project Downtown Crossing, will take care of the repairs.

Work is expected to begin on Sunday and the re-opening of the ramp will not be known until sometime early next week.

Motorists who use I-65 North to I-65 interchange are should use the I-65 North to I-264 West to get to I-64.
