LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Residents of Radcliff are coming together to help a first grader battle leukemia.

The community is organizing a fundraiser for Sam Adams and his family called ‘A Million Wishes for Sam.’

The goal is to collect a million pennies, equaling $10,000.

First grade students from Radcliff Elementary spent Friday decorating cans for the fundraiser.

Sam’s family will use the decorated cans to collect pennies.

“He’s been fighting the fight and every day he gets a little bit stronger, but he’s had setbacks and such, but hopefully soon he’ll get to come home,” said Shandis Rose, the teacher of the first grade class.
