(WHAS11) -- Pooka, a Chihuahua-Dachshund mix, was found wandering the street in Northern New Mexico after she went missing about 18 months ago.
Pooka disappeared from her yard in Fort Campbell, Kentucky in July of 2011. Owner Mandi Smith never thought she would see her pooch again.
"I never thought I'd hold her again," said Smith.
Thanks to a microchip that was installed in Pooka's shoulder a few days before she went missing, the Humane Society was able to track her down.
On Wednesday, Smith showed how far love would travel. She took a cross-country flight to pick up Pooka and bring her home to Kentucky.
Though Pooka's microchip showed just how far she had traveled,it may never be known just how.
