WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WHAS11)- Students at Purdue University in Indiana have dismantled their solar-powered house to take it to Washington D.C. for a competition.
Monday the house will be shipped to D.C. for the Department of Energy's solar decathlon.
Purdue is one of 19 teams that built these solar-powered homes. Each produces as least as much energy as it uses.
Each home will be judged in ten areas, like architecture, market appeal and hot water supply.
The winner will be announced October 1.
