LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Habitat for Humanity volunteers are almost half way through constructing their latest project in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville.

Tuesday, more than a dozen workers from Sonic, one of the project's main sponsors, began tearing down interior walls and rebuilding new ones that will outline the three bedroom, one bath home on the 2200 block of Lytle St.

Sally Bell and her two daughters will become the new homeowners once the construction is complete. She's spent hundreds of man hours already working on the home herself, one of the requirements she must meet to own the home.

Bell hopes to move in by September 20.

The home's construction is made possible by WHAS11 News, Ashley Furniture, Sonic Drive-In, Spalding University and Highland Roofing.

Stay with WHAS every Tuesday for updates to the home.
