LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Growing up here in Louisville, I remember January 1977. That’s when the Ohio River froze over from shore to shore.
People were walking from Kentucky to Southern Indiana and back on the ice.
Today, the ice is returning, but not like 1977. I took these pictures at the 4th Street Wharf.
The ice has started to surround the Belle of Louisville and The Spirit of Jefferson.
With more cold weather coming, there should be more ice. But keep in mind, there’s not enough to be walking on it!
