President Obama announces digital lab with UK, UofL ties

CHICAGO (WHAS11) – President Obama announced a $320 million digital lab and it has local ties to both the University of Louisville and The University of Kentucky.

The lab is a public and private initiative involving government, business and universities.

It will include research with using computers and date to improve high tech manufacturing machines and factories.

UofL will be a remote manufacturing research site for the lab.

Congressman John Yarmuth released a statement shortly after the announcement in Chicago:

"I was proud to work with UofL in supporting this investment, which will help the university further cement itself as a regional powerhouse in advanced manufacturing and innovation."
