LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The lights have been restored at a University of Louisville dorm that spent most of the day Saturday without electricity.
Crews had to replace a transformer which powers Miller Hall, a dorm for housing first-year students.
University officials say during routine maintenance, a small leak was discovered in the old transformer.
“Rather than it getting bigger, we decided to replace that transformer right now so we don’t have any problems in the future,” Mark Hebert, university spokesman said.
Students who live in Miller Hall were allowed to stay in the dorm while repairs took place.
The power was off for about 10 hours and returned just before 5 p.m.
