(WHAS11) – If you’re a fan of the colorful headphones often popularized among those in the entertainment industry, they’ve been banned if you’re a participant in this year’s World Cup.

Beats by Dre, created by hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre, have been banned for use on the field during the World Cup in Brazil.

The World Cup has a licensing agreement with Sony.

Sony has issued all players in the tournament with a free set of headphones although reports say when players aren’t on the field, they still wear Beats.
