Police identify 2 killed in Washington County accident

LIVONIA, Ind. (WHAS11) -- The Washington County Sheriff's Department has turned over their investigation to Indiana State Police after a fatal accident in Livonia, Ind.

Police said the accident happened just after 9 a.m. Monday on Livonia-Hardinsburg Road when a red Chevrolet Cobalt and a Jeep Compas hit head-on. Police said the Cobalt was heading north and as it topped a hill crest, the driver swerved into the south bound lane and hit the Jeep.

Both drivers were killed. Police identified the Cobalt driver as 26-year-old Tami J. Durbin of Hardinsburg and the Compass driver as 64-year-old Terry P. Collins of Orleans. No other passengers were in the vehicles.

Police said Durbin and Collins were wearing their seatbelts and the airbag deployed on both vehicles.
