LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Many of you will celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks and police want you to be careful and obey the laws.

In Metro Louisville you're not allowed to shoot off anything that explodes or flies through the air.

Firecrackers, sparklers and roman candles are allowed. You must be at least 18 to buy, possess or shoot off fireworks. A violation could get you a fine of up to $250.

In Indiana the minimum age is the same, but you can buy fireworks that shoot into the air and explode.

Keep in mind you can only shoot off fireworks between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. each day. On Friday, that time is extended until midnight.
