LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The coroner has identified a man who was shot multiple times at the Beecher Terrace Housing complex on Tuesday, April 29.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Fisk Court where police spent several hours investigating.

The coroner has identified the victim as 28-year-old John L. Hebert. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 2:08 p.m.

“We're still trying to investigate whether or not he's a resident of this area, I believe he was known in this area but whether or not he actually lived here is something we're still trying to figure out," Louisville Metro Police Public Information Officer Alicia Smiley said.

Smiley said since the shooting happened midday they sent several officers to the crime scene as an extra safety precaution.

People in the Beecher Terrace area say the neighborhood had been quiet lately until Tuesday's shooting.  Chris Redden says gunshots broke that silence.

"It was fairly loud, fairly consistent," Redden said.  "It may have been a semi automatic because it went off bang, bang, bang, bang, bang bang, like that."

Redden says he saw first responders work on Hebert for about a half an hour before being placed in an ambulance.

Police are asking you to call 574-LMPD if you have any information on this shooting.
