WADDY, Ky. (NEWS RELEASE) – On Sept. 12 at 10:59 a.m., Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle injury collision on US 60, in the Waddy Community.
A 2013 Freightliner Dump Truck, being operated by Jonathan Denning, age 28, of New Albany, Ind., was traveling Eastbound on US 60 when the tire tread came off his vehicle, causing the driver to loose control. The dump truck traveled into the westbound lane, striking a silver 1999 Ford F150 head on. Both vehicles left the roadway, striking a culvert. The dump truck overturned, landing on the pickup truck.
The driver of the Freightliner was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital.
The driver of the Ford F150, a Lawrenceburg man, later identfied as James Walker, age 57, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision by the Shelby County Coroner.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Shelby County Fire/EMS, Shelby County Coroner’s Office, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Environmental Protection Agency, and Kentucky State Police Collision Analysis Branch.
The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police, Post 12 Accident Reconstruction Team.
