LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A woman is dead after being fatally shot in the Wal-Mart parking lot in the Hillview area.
According to Louisville Metro police, Michelle Hahn, 46, of Shepherdsville was shot in the head in the parking lot of the Walmart in the 11900 block of Standiford Plaza Drive just after noon Saturday.
Hahn came out of the store, and was shot near her car.
"We do believe this is a domestic situation," police spokesperson Carey Klain said.
Witnesses said Hahn was putting groceries in her car when she was gunned down.
John Winter had just walked into the Walmart when a woman ran in screaming saying someone had been shot. He says he ran out to the parking lot. Hahn was killed three spots away from where he had just parked. He says he tried to help her, but she was dead.
According to LMPD spokeswoman Klain, the male shooter fled the scene, but shortly after reports of gunfire came in to police from McNeely Park.
Police found a man matching the shooter's description in the getaway car. According to police, Charles R. Fickentsher, 44, had shot and killed himself.
Police have not said what type of relationship the victim and the shooter had.
Walmart remained closed for nearly five hours while police investigated.
