LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — An investigation is underway after police said a man was found dead inside a home in the Portland Neighborhood Thursday night.

Police were called to a home in the 300 block of N. 21st Street around 8 p.m. by a family member of 44-year-old James Newton. Apparently, the family member called after finding his body.

LMPD public information officer Alicia Smiley did not comment on how Newton died, but said there is enough evidence to suspect foul play was involved.

"I do believe the victim is a resident of this location, but more information on his ID will be forthcoming from the coroner's office," Smiley said.

Police have yet to make any arrests.
