LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Our cameras were rolling this afternoon near St. Matthews as police busted a marijuana grow operation inside a home.
“Well, it is unusual for this quiet St. Matthew’s neighborhood,” said Laura Coomes, who lives in the neighborhood. It was a strange sight in Richlawn, a quiet city tucked into the St. Matthews neighborhood. “It’s very surprising, but although it was a suspicious house, you know, I suspected something going on there,” added another neighbor Jeannine Barton.
Police busted the grow operation at 101 Don Allen Road, at the intersection with Heady Avenue. “This is a case that has been under investigation for a short period of time, we continue to investigate it,” said Detective Dennis McDonald with St. Matthews Police.
The bust may have been unexpected, but some neighbors had their suspicions about what was happening at that house. “We’ve had a lot of complaints about him,” said Roger Rymarz, who lives nearby, “I’m glad to see something’s finally done.”
One neighbor told us she wouldn’t see anyone go in or out of the home for days then one day, she’d see multiple cars coming and going. “The young kids, you just don’t know what they’re doing. Especially when there’s like, we have seen like, several youths whenever they would be there with those bunch of cars,” Barton explained.
Police do have one person in custody, although they have not yet released a name or the possible charges.
