MILTON, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police have released more details in the apparent murder-suicide in Trimble County Sunday morning.

Police were called to the 100 block of Garriott Court just after 2 a.m. when they said 48-year-old Robert Harmon shot himself, his former girlfriend and her 16-year-old niece.

Harmon and the 16-year-old died, and 33-year-old Niki Davis was injured.

Neighbors told police Davis lived with Harmon in the house for the last two to three years.  The couple had an argument, and Davis moved out.

Investigators said Davis returned to the house and that's when Harmon shot Davis, her niece, and himself.

Davis’ daughter heard the gunshots from the upper-level of the house, came downstairs and called police.

KSP said troopers have never responded to any domestic or violence-related calls to the house.

"You can't predict something like this,”  Trooper Brad Arterburn said. “Just want to tell people - get away from each other and cool down.  That's the best advice you can give, but obviously it doesn't happen sometimes.”

Police said two juveniles were inside the home when the shooting took place and they have been placed with other family members.

Davis remains hospitalized but is expected to survive her injuries.
