BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Police are beefing up patrols around the Indiana University after woman was attacked near campus Monday morning.
The 21-year-old was attacked as she was walking home from Kilroy's Bar – the same bar where missing IU student Lauren Spierer was last seen.
The victim said a man in hid 40's asked for directions then grabbed her hair, forced her to the ground and tried to sexually assault her. She used pepper spray and got away.
Police said they aren't ruling out any connections to the Spierer case.
"We have no direct knowledge that this would have any connection to the Lauren Spierer case, but obviously it is something that's being reviewed by those investigators," Captain Joe Qualters with Bloomington Police said.
The suspect remains on the loose and police are urging students to avoid walking home alone at night.
