Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - Dented, battered and scratched. That's how the dark, teal-blue Monte Carlo parked on the 1800 block of Date Street looks after being sideswiped by 30-year-old Glynn Morgan Brent, who people say was driving under the influence.

So, it's hard to imagine how a 14-year-old boy looked after getting hit by the same car just moments later. After the driver hit the car and then the teenager, he stopped on the other side of the street, got out of the car, and neighbors said it was obvious he wasn’t quite right.

"He was impaired if I'm not mistaken,” said Gerald Tate, who pulled up to his home on Date Street just after the accident took place. “People were looking out trying to see what all the commotion was about."

According to the police report, Brent had “glassy blood shot eyes, slurred speech and was unstable on his feet.” He was arrested on second degree assault, as well as driving under the influence; but this was not his first time being booked on DUI charges. In August of 2010 he was found guilty of driving under the influence. He also has multiple arrests for cocaine possession.

The teenager was transported to Kosair Hospital with serious physical injury, but the good news is he has since left the hospital and is healing.

Today, the main topic of conversation on the 1800 block of Date Street was how drivers in general do not operate their vehicles safely on this stretch as they go to-and-from Dixie Highway.

"People fly down this street all the time and you know they need to slow down. It's a residential area," said Tate. "We have kids out here playing and unfortunately a kid got hit because people go flying down this street."
