LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Two Louisville men have been arrested in connection with what police believe is a dog fighting ring.
Robert Dickerson and Edward Bryant face animal cruelty charges and were arrested at a home at 21st and Rowan.
Officers were investigating a shots fired call which led them to the home.
Inside, they say several pit bulls, which were bleeding from the neck, were found and confiscated.
One of the owners of the dog, who wished to remain unidentified, says the dogs got into a fight but were not being used for dog fighting.
“It was a thing where our household dogs got loose-- they had a fight. You know what I’m saying? We broke them up. We separated them. Put them back, everything-- it's a normal thing,” he said.
The injured animals have been placed with animal control.
