LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Police say a Louisville man was arrested on charges of wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property and tampering with physical evidence on Monday evening.

Officers were called to a home on Weller Avenue in South Louisville when a man allegedly fired a shot into a woman's yard with a handgun. According to reports, officers arrived on scene to find Dontae Thompson, 22, inside a wrecked car in a yard across the street with a bullet hole through his rear passenger window.

Witnesses stated that he came to the residence and started an argument.  Reports say witnesses then saw him point a silver handgun at a woman's face, then went outside and fired the weapon.

According to reports, officers found a Smith and Wesson 9mm gun wedged between the driver side door and the bushes where the vehicle had crashed. The gun was listed as stolen and never recovered.

Police say Thompson is a convicted felon and does not have a valid driver's license.
