LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11)-- Investigators call the murder case of Don’esha McStoots a very complicated case.
They've had to string together a lot of pieces and people, but they made a big step toward solving murder Friday.
Just shy of two weeks since her death, Bullitt County Sheriff's investigators believe they're closing in on 21-year-old McStoots’ killer.
"We're already at a very good point in the investigation right now, I'm confident that we'll have charges probably, definitely sooner than later," Lt. Mike Murdoch said.
The department released security video of a man in Jerry's Liquor Store less than a mile from where McStoots was found. Witnesses said they saw McStoots getting in and out of the bed of his pickup truck.
"Luckily the gentleman from the video was watching TV with family members and said, that's me and I need to go in there and straighten out whatever issue there is," Murdoch said.
Murdoch said the man is not a suspect. He's cooperating and providing useful information to investigators.
"Right now, luckily it is narrowed down, this did help close up a loose end and like I said, I hope that, I'm hopeful that within the next few days we could even name a suspect," Murdoch said.
DNA samples found on McStoots body have been sent to the state crime lab for a rush analysis.
Within a couple days, Murdoch said investigators will speak with the Commonwealth's Attorney about whether to present their case to a Grand Jury now or wait until the analysis comes back.
