LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville teen needs your help making it to the final round of a national competition.

Sixteen-year-old Erik Meyer, a Pleasure Ridge Park High School student, was notified via email that he was picked to have one of his original songs used in a commercial for the new Dodge Dart.

Meyer, aka Special E Productions, is the section leader for both the concert band and the marching band at PRP, and has been involved in music for most of his life. Now, he needs your vote to move on to the final round of the competition.

Meyer produces many of his own pieces, but he also "samples/mashes" other works.

Dodge invited Meyer to be part of the competition. Thousands of musicians applied and Meyer was chosen as 1 of 500 contestants. Part of competition is based on fan votes and downloads. Dodge will be taking the top 3 from each genre, give them $500, then choose a grand prize winner to be featured in the commercial.

Click here to cast your vote or download the song from Special E Productions.
