LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Labor Day holiday weekend marked a milestone for the city as it was the last weekend for free parking downtown.

The Parking Authority of River City will begin ticketing vehicles on expired meters beginning Saturday, September 6 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The city says it could raise an extra $100,000 a year for the nearly 5,000 meters in the downtown area.
