(WHAS11) -- Levonia Lewars has been indicted on fraud and theft charges.
Lewars is charged with one count of fraudulent scheme or plan to obtain public assistance benefits of more than $10,000 and one count of theft by deception over $10,000. Both charges are class c felonies and carry a sentence of 5 to 10 years.
According to court documents, Lewars received $306,187.78 in benefits from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Child Care Assistance Program to which she was not entitled.
