Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - A 17-year-old was arrested in connection with a shooting in the 7000 block of Routt Road in far eastern Jefferson County just hours after it occurred.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on August 16. One person, 18-year-old Dillon Walker from Frankfort, was transported to University hospital in critical condition due to a gunshot wound to the head. Walker later died.

Corey Emerson is the son of the homeowners whose driveway Walker was shot in.
“We saw the pool of blood at the bottom of the driveway. It's just breath taking no words just sad to see very sad,” he said.

Emerson’s parents were away for the weekend. He said neighbors saw the house on the news and called Emerson to check it out.

“We didn't know if anyone had broken into the home or if anything else had happened. That's why we came by,” Emerson said.

Emerson said it does not appear the teens did anything to his parents’ house, and that he can’t imagine why the shooting happened at the end of their driveway.

Officers have not confirmed why Walker and the shooter were in Jefferson County. Homicide is still investigating.
