SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Shelby County Sheriff's office is asking for the public's help locating a man they say is responsible for a shooting at a Shelby County apartment complex on Sunday morning.
James Anthony Watkins, 42, is wanted by police on charges of assault and wanton endangerment. Major Jason Rice of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said a Hispanic male was shot multiple times in the lower extremities in the parking lot of the Meadowridge apartment complex early Sunday morning. The shooting allegedly started over an argument.
The victim is listed in stable condition at University Hospital. Police are hoping to get a statement from the victim once he has stabilized to "shed some light" on the incident.
Police say they searched all of the apartments looking for the shooter, but did not find him. Police were able to secure the other residents.
Watkins is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs approximately 220 lbs. and goes by the nicknames "Tony" and "GZ."
