BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11) –Officials are working on the sewage spill in Bullitt County, said Hunter’s Hollow Mayor Linda Parker.

Parker said owners of the facility hope to install a portable plant.

“They were over there yesterday to see what they would to do to the site to put this in. That's a temporary fix,” she said.

The wastewater treatment facility in the northern part of the county failed on Saturday evening, spewing raw sewage throughout the area. More than five hundred homes and businesses have been affected by the eruption.

Residents are urged to be mindful of their water usage and should stay away from any standing water.
