JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – A Jeffersonville, Ind. police officer was injured and rushed to University Hospital after being involved in a car accident while en route to a reported bank robbery.

Police said the armed robbery happened at the Your Community Bank on East 10th Street around 2:30 Monday afternoon.

A responding officer, with his lights and sirens on, was involved in an accident at the intersection of 10th and Main streets in Jeffersonville. The officer has been identified as Robert Grinestaff.

The female driver of the other car was also rushed to University of Louisville Hospital.  WHAS11 was told both the officer and the driver of the second car were alert and are expected to be OK.

Police said they are continuing their search for the suspected bank robbery, described only as a white male with a slender build. They are planning to distribute images of the suspect shortly.
