North Vernon man critically injured while burning brush

NORTH VERNON, Ind. (WHAS11) -- A Jennings County, Ind. man is recovering after he was severely burned Tuesday.

According to a news release from the Jennings County Sheriff's Officer, 85-year-old Donald Johnson's clothes caught fire while he was burning brush on his North Vernon farm.

Police were called out to the farm on S. Jackson Street around 2 p.m. and found Johnson. Deputies said he "sustained critical burns over a large area of his body.

Johnson was flown by helicopter to the Wishard Trauma Center in Indianapolis and is listed in extremely critical condition.
