LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Family and friends held a vigil to remember 56-year-old Charles Dougherty.

“It’s devastating to lose a loved one or family member because you always want to know, ‘Why?’” said Lynda Dougherty, Charles’ sister.  “You don’t get any closure without knowing.”

Lynda’s brother Charles was shot in his back in April 2011.  He managed to move several feet toward the front door of his sister’s house.

“He collapsed in my arms,” Lynda said.

Police have not made any arrests, and have no suspects.  Dougherty’s friends and family hope their vigil will remind people about his death, and hopefully bring forward someone with information.

"We are hoping that someone would actually see this and remember something, or come forward," Lynda said.

If you have information regarding the case, the family asks you call 574-LMPD.
