Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - You may not be familiar with Mu-Mimo yet, but it could soon become a common phrase for Wi-Fi users.

The maker of the technology said it could triple Wi-Fi speeds at homes, offices and on public networks.

Mu-Mimo creators plan to sell the corresponding chip to manufacturers of wireless routers, smartphones, tablets and other electronics.

The new technology is expected to hit the market early next year.
