LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- New surveillance video has been released showing an Indiana woman's clever getaway from an escaped inmate who had taken her hostage.

The man in the white sweater in the video is 40-year-old Michael Elliot who was serving five life sentences after being convicted in four murders. Elliot escaped from a Michigan prison in February.

The woman Elliot carjacked after his escape is seen in the video as only a blur, but police said she snuck out of the car and got the clerk to write down the gas station's address. She then locked herself in the bathroom and called 911.

Elliot got away, but was later caught.

He has since been extradited back to Michigan.

Elliot is due in court next week to face new charges in connection to the woman's kidnapping and his escape.
